PREVIOUS SITUATION
The Autopista del Sol between the cities of Málaga-Estepona-Guadiaro contributes significantly to the flow of traffic along the Costa del Sol. It consists of two segments: Málaga-Estepona and Estepona-Guadiaro. Both are part of the Algeciras itinerary. They connect the traffic flow of Malaga and its airport, as well as long-distance traffic that begins and ends in the Bay of Gibraltar.
CHALLENGE:
More than 20,000 transits without an automated system caused long entry and exit queues with long waiting times.
Vehicle license plates detection and reading was a key aspect that needed to be improved due to weather conditions and the condition of the license plates.
Real-time reading was not effective (91%), so it was necessary to change to a model of automatic license plates detection and reading, thus increasing the reliability percentage.
