TotalVision
The most complete smart parking solution in the industry
The car park of the future is already here
For years, license plate recognition has been the foundation of parking automation, helping operators streamline access control and improve operational efficiency. And it still is.
License plates remain the primary data point used to identify vehicles within an access system. The technology is fast, reliable, and essential for linking every access event to a specific operation. However, today’s parking environments are evolving, and in many scenarios, license plate data alone is no longer enough to provide the level of visibility operators require.
Modern parking facilities need more than simple vehicle identification. They increasingly require deeper context, enhanced verification capabilities, and richer operational insights. Parking no longer just needs to identify vehicles — it needs to better understand every movement and interaction. This is where a new generation of parkings begins.
Access is no longer just a barrier
The evolution of parking is not only about automating entrances and exits. It is about transforming every access point into a source of valuable operational intelligence.
Traditionally, access systems functioned mainly as validation points: the system confirmed a license plate and triggered an action. Today, that approach is no longer sufficient. Modern parking environments require systems capable of delivering additional layers of information about every vehicle and every access event.
This shift is not simply driven by technology. It responds to real operational needs: increasing confidence, reducing uncertainty, simplifying event reviews, and generating more meaningful data for operators.
From identifying to understanding
The future of smart parking is not about replacing license plate recognition. On the contrary, OCR technology remains the foundation of the entire system. What changes is everything built around it.
When an access point incorporates multiple layers of information, operators gain much more than automation. They gain the ability to verify more accurately, classify vehicles more effectively, and review events with greater clarity.
That difference may seem subtle, but it fundamentally transforms the quality and intelligence of parking operations. This is where parking management evolves from simple control to operational understanding.
A new layer of intelligent vision
At Lector Vision we are committed to redefining parking accesses, integrating in the same solution different capabilities that, until now, used to exist independently.
The combination of these layers makes it possible to build a more complete view of traffic and open the door to a new generation of smart parking. It is not a matter of adding technologies, but of creating a powerful solution.
The goal is not simply to add technologies together, but to create a unified and intelligent platform capable of delivering greater context, stronger operational consistency, and significantly higher value for operators.
Three key capabilities in a single solution
Lector Vision’s solution combines three core technologies within the same access point, enabling a much more complete understanding of every vehicle transit.
1. OCR: the foundation of vehicle identification. OCR technology enables fast and reliable vehicle identification, linking every transit event to a specific operation within the parking environment. It serves as the foundation upon which additional layers of intelligence are built.
2. HOV: an Additional Layer of Verification The second layer is HOV, aimed at analyzing vehicle occupancy. This system makes it possible to detect if a vehicle exceeds a certain threshold of occupants or to count the number of people inside, thus adding a new layer of verification to traffic.
The value goes beyond a simple count. In mobility, knowing the occupancy of vehicles is key to promoting policies that encourage shared journeys as opposed to individual car use. In parking environments, this capacity opens the door to smarter pricing models, where individual journeys can have a higher cost and vehicles with two or more occupants benefit from more favourable rates. It can even be combined with dynamic pricing schemes at times of high demand, such as events or traffic peaks, penalising individual use and favouring shared journeys.
In addition, HOV provides very relevant value in shopping centres, transport infrastructures and other high-traffic spaces, where it can be used for demand
studies, mobility analysis, knowledge of users’ modes of transport and even marketing studies.
3. MMR: a Richer View of the Vehicle The third layer is MMR, focused on the vehicle’s classification. This technology provides additional information about the vehicle, including make, model, and category, allowing operators to gain a much deeper understanding of the vehicles accessing their facilities.
In retail and mobility environments, MMR enables operators to better understand the composition of the vehicle fleet using a facility, generating valuable data for demand analysis, customer profiling, and automotive-related marketing initiatives.
In addition, MMR provides particularly relevant value in terms of security and fraud prevention. By contrasting the license plate with additional visual information about the vehicle, such as its make, model, or typology, the system can help detect potential inconsistencies between the recorded data and the actual vehicle. This is useful, for example, to identify duplications, changes in registration, improper use of the same license plate or possible fraud attempts in automated accesses.
Operationally, and depending on local regulations, this layer can also support vehicle classification strategies linked to pricing policies or environmental categories. In free-flow parking environments, MMR can also improve matching accuracy between entries and exits when minor OCR inconsistencies or reading incidents occur.
A pioneering proposal due to its level of integration
While many parking technologies continue to solve isolated problems independently, Lector Vision delivers a truly integrated vision of intelligent parking access. Our solution combines OCR, HOV and MMR within a single unified platform, at the same access point.
That is why Lector Vision offers one of the most complete smart parking solutions in the industry, not because it adds isolated functionalities, but because it fundamentally redefines how parking access is understood. The result is a smarter, richer, and more future-ready parking operation.
